The North Canterbury women’s basketball team totally outclassed the University of Canterbury side in the latest round of the Premier competition. The led from start to finish, amassing more than double the points of their opposition, in their 80-38 win. Esra McGoldrick top scored for the local girls, with 24 points. The Waimak CCL Men’s team had a solid win over Universities 5-1 in the weekend. At home on the turf, they controlled the first half, dominating possession, but were unable to convert any of their chances. Another cool morning greeted the districts netballers this weekend, as grading continued. The clash between Rangiora High A and Kaiapoi 1 was a determined affair, with the students coming out winners 29-17. Amberley maintained their winning form overcoming Ashley 35-23. In the UC Secondary School Championship, Rangiora High School travelled to Timaru to take on Timaru Boys High School. Timaru scored early, but two tries to Rangiora halfback Maeva Robati, saw Rangiora take the lead 14-7. Timaru converted a penalty to close the gap to 14-10.
