The North Canterbury Division One rugby competition began over the weekend.  Saracens took on Ashley, with the Rakahuri Shield on the line.  Ashley went into the halftime break with a slight lead 8-6.  The match continued to be tightly contested, but it was Saracens who were the eventual winners 22-18. The Waimak Premier women’s team recorded their second win of the campaign with a 4-3 win over Halswell.  Jayda Stewart found the net twice, with Lucrettia Taylor, and Charlotte Roche bagging  one each.
