Cup Double for Canterbury Cup Double for Canterbury December 10, 2020 By Pam Fraser Sport The Canterbury Red Hawks women’s softball team and the Red Sox men’s softball teams have won the Jubilee and Jefferies Cups, respectively, in the South Island Softball Championships. The Red Hawks squad included Kaiapoi Softball players Nerissa Bailey McDowell, Layla Bailey McDowell, and Lauren Sutherland. Placings on the track Placings on the track December 10, 2020 By Pam Fraser Sport Over the weekend a small team of North Canterbury athletes competed at Nga Puna Wai. In the Childrens event Farai Musesengwa picked up first placings in the 9 boys 60m and 200m events. Mya Phillips also won her 14 girls Discus. Sefton won by default as Southbrook were again forced to default. Batting first, Weedons heaped on the runs to finish their 45 overs at 274/7.
