The Hinemoa Kaiapoi grass women’s hockey team, continue to lead their competition, having defeated the Southern 9-0. They have won seven games on the trot and have a handy lead at the top of the table. The North Canterbury Primary Schools Cross Country event was held at the A&P Showgrounds in Rangiora this week. The event was run by the North Canterbury Sport and Recreation Trust, with 200 students running in two zones, Pegasus and Rakahuri. The Waimak Premier women’s football team held on to their joint second place in the league, with a 3-2 win over Halswell. They got out to a 3-0 lead, through two goals from Charlotte Roche, and one from Jayda Stewart. It is still all tied up at the top of the North Canterbury Division One Rugby competition, with both leaders Kaiapoi, and Glenmark Cheviot having good wins over the weekend.  Glenmark Cheviot dotted down six times, through Keane, Vincent, Harnett, Retallick, and McDuff, in their win 37-21 over Saracens. In an enthralling game of netball in the Premier grade, Kaiapoi came back against the youthful Rangiora High senior A team, to win 43-37.  It was an even contest throughout the match, with Kaiapoi pulling away in the final quarter.
