Waimakariri District Council have today closed beach access ways. The decision was made in line with advice from the government in discouraging unnecessary travel and keeping physical distancing limits in place. “We appreciate that many people would have been looking forward to accessing the beaches but already there has been a wave of people from our District and others heading to our beaches. “The beaches are great places to get some fresh air but we all have a role to play in stamping out COVID19 and anything we can do to discourage people congregating in public is the right decision at this time,” said Grant MacLeod, Greenspace Manager. As of today the following beach gates have been closed: Pines Beach Woodend Beach Pegasus Beach Waikuku Beach.
