The Northern Bulldogs handed out a mauling to the Papanui Tigers in the Canterbury rugby league premier grade. They finished off eleven tries to win 56-8, despite only leading 16-4 at halftime. Josh Endacott went on a point scoring spree, picking up three tries and five goals for a 22 point haul. Javaan Togiaso got himself a brace of tries, and Vinnie Paul, Mathew Couch, Ethan Plaskett, Nathaniel Tirikatene, Manu Tipelu, and Josh Rawiri found themselves across the try line too. Rawiri also slotted a goal. At the halfway point of the competition things have tightened up a little, and the Bulldogs have squeezed into third place. Points: Hornby 13, Linwood 11, Northern 8, Halswell 8, Celebration 6, Riccarton 6, Eastern 4, Papanui 0. In the reserve grade, the Bulldogs reserves were beaten 16-30 by Marist-Papanui. They are currently in fifth place.
