29 December Christmas Day Run Report (#223) December 29, 2020 By Pam Fraser Sport Rudolph, Dasher, Vixen and Blitzen made up the team to bring Santa and his elves to Pegasus parkrun today. The rain simply could not stop our intrepid four from bringing the sleigh onto the green and after dispersing a number of candies and chocolates Santa, the reindeer and the elves joined 42 other parkrunning legends braving the cold and wet to get their 5km fix. Did I say 42? Yes, I did - Santa, the 4 reindeer, 2 elves and 42 other parkrunners began today’s journey - some in costumes of Christmassy themedom others in straight up parkrun gear - so 49 starters (of whom 3 cut it shorter in order to give out more confectionery), and therefore 46 finished BUT let’s not forget the absolute legends that stayed out in the rain to give us this day our daily run, huge thanks to John Kerrison, Tania Bailey, Lynley Devon, Vanessa Nelmes, Jim Trathen and Trev White. Results were an absolute PegaQuota full of heroes, everyone’s a winner & that’s the truth. As things panned out no surprise the Airedale Express posted an even 18 minute run - Hannah Oldroyd posted her 39th #1 at Pegasus (in her 39th run here)!!! Chris (the other) Norman recorded the fastest time for a bloke (18:39). A non-barcoding runner was next in, followed by Gabrielle Gray picking up 2nd place in the womens field (& a PB for herself), next in were Dave Collie (2nd Male), Mark Sissons (3rd Male) and Angela Doig recorded 3rd place among the women. Edward Drummond was the only other today to claim a PB, well done! Emma Kennedy joined us for the first time today, welcome Emma, come back any time. You know what? I enjoyed today so much I think I’ll parkrun again tomorrow! Care to join me? #DFYB Don’t Forget Your Barcode Merry Christmas everyone!!! Santa! The Kaiapoi Christmas Carnival and Santa Parade The late morning rain did not dampen the Christmas spirit in Kaiapoi, as people attended the 2019 Kaiapoi Christmas Carnival on Saturday 7 December. When he returned from helping his grandparents stack hay in sticky conditions, he found a new playhouse – which he had won during Kaiapoi’s Christmas Parade & Carnival – sitting pride of place in his family’s back yard at Amberley. The playhouse was gifted by Waghorn Builders Ltd during the Carnival last weekend. Held on the first Saturday of December, the Kaiapoi community event has proudly ...
