Girls dominate the court

The North Canterbury under 16 basketball teams were absolutely dominant on the courts over the weekend. The Maroon team amassed 101 points to Halswell’s 25. The Black team also slotted 101 points to Selwyn’s 34. The third game between the White team and Gators was closer but the North Canterbury girls ran out winners 78-58.
The U19 women also had success, with a 54-45 defeat of Halswell. However, the midweek women went down 33-41 to CYA. Teresa Dann sunk 10 points for the North Canterbury Lynx.
The Men’s division one team had a comfortable 92-37 win over Pioneer. Jesse Perenara slotting 23 points. The under 23 development men’s team also picked up a win 70-65 over Lincoln University. The under 20 Black team went down 60-95 to Gators and the Maroon team had a 74-47 win over Checkers Black.
In the under 17 boys grades, Rangiora High were defeated by Gators 56-100, in the A grade. Kaiapoi High were defeated 60-75 by Cashmere in the development grade, and North Canterbury defeated Selwyn 89-66 in the middle grade.
Apart from the Rangiora High under 15 boys team who were beaten by Shirley Boys High in the A grade 54-87, all of the other under 15 teams picked up good wins. North Canterbury Black defeated Selwyn 71-54 in the development grade. North Canterbury White defeated Christchurch Boys High 89-31 in the middle grade, and Kaiapoi High had a big win 107-30 over Celebration in the same grade.
