Grass proving a winner

The Hinemoa Kaiapoi grass women’s hockey team, continue to lead their competition, having defeated the Southern 9-0. They have won seven games on the trot and have a handy lead at the top of the table.



The Rangiora division one men’s hockey team picked up a good 2-1 win over Marist. This pushes them up to the middle of the table. The Rangiora division one women’s hockey team, however, were defeated by Marist 0-4. The division three men’s team defeated the University of Canterbury Barbarians 3-1 and retain second place in the grade.

In the Platinum grades, the division two men’s Rangiora B team had a huge 12-0 win over Harewood, while the division two women’s Rangiora A team had a good win too, 6-1 over the Hornby Lynx. The Hinemoa Kaiapoi Miro side were defeated 0-3 by Harewood Blue. In the women’s division three, Rangiora B defeated Harewood 3-0, and Hinemoa Kaiapoi Tawa lost 1-7 to HSOB Burnside.

Midweek, in the division two men’s grade, Southern defeated Hinemoa Kauri 3-2 in a tightly fought match, but the Rangiora team were soundly beaten 0-11. In the women’s division one grade, Hinemoa Kaiapoi Rata defeated Avon 4-1, and in division two the Hinemoa Kaiapoi Totara team went down 1-2 to Southern. Rangiora defeated the Hornby Cats 4-2.
