North Canterbury athletes are again shining, with a number selected in high performance squads, or getting top results in national competitions.

Another Rangiora High School athlete, Diaz McKay has finished second in the U17 girls' slalom at the New Zealand Waterski Nationals at Lake Wiritoa in Wanganui.

James Mullin, ex Rangiora High School 1st XV player, has been selected in the Crusaders U20 squad. Fletcher Newell and Angus Fletcher, also ex Rangiora High School are in the Crusaders Development squad, and Newell has debuted for the Crusaders this year.

Ex Rangiora High School basketballers, Jack Exeter and Ben Hall have been selected in the Canterbury Rams basketball team. A number of North Canterbury basketballers have also been selected in New Zealand wider training squads, including Lauren Whitaker, Ivy Brown, and Ashlyn Rean in the U16 girls, and Connor Pritchard in the U17 boys.

Georgia Gold, Rangiora High School premier netballer, has been selected in the New Zealand Secondary Schools netball squad.

Current Waimak United Premier women’s goalkeeper Annie Foote, and former Waimak United player Macey Fraser, have been selected in the New Zealand U20 women’s training camp for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
