Pegasus parkrun #217

Can you remember the first appearance of the Monstrous Maniacal Monk at Pegasus parkrun? I only ask as like the majority of Mendicant Monastics, he was first seen with no footwear! Why then, in future appearances was he seen in running shoes? The answer was possibly found today at post-parkrun coffees when a regular was  expressing potential tomosexual tendencies‼️

All that aside, 104 participants enjoyed the conditions at Pegasus this morning, with 4 First Time ever parkrunners joining us - Welcome to Molly Elliot, Glen Sutton, Carrie Harrel and Helen Thomas!

Joining us for the first time as Tourists were, Daniel Cameron ( Hagley ), Simon Brady ( Foster ), Tony & Janice Brorens ( Hagley ), Peter Horan ( Hamilton Lake ), Sarah Pirikahu ( Hagley/Foster ), Boyce Rob ( Foster ) and Debbie Morris ( Hamilton Lake ) - welcome all it will be great to see you all again.
PB’s were few and far between this week with only Marcus Daff and Ben King earning new ones and Solomon Daff equaling his PB from last week. There was also a new Age Group Record today, that went to new parkrunner Carrie Hartel in the VW70-74 section, well done Carrie!

The top3 in the Age Graded results today were Hannah Oldroyd, Gary Devlin and Kath Atkin, a further 10 parkrunners achieved in the +70% range.
We have parkrunners reaching milestones almost every week now & although there were no 100 Milestoners this week there are a few closing in on their Black Shirt. Rob Doig earned his Red Shirt by completing his 50th parkrun today - congratulations Rob.
Let’s take a look at the speedsters now then, starting with the Juniors (U17 ), who were led in by Joseph Matthews, Haven Drinnan and Solomon Daff - fantastic running you guys!
The three quickest blokes to finish today were Alex Witt (2nd overall, 18:37), Russell Wordsworth (3rd overall, 18:45) and Joseph Matthews (4th overall, 19:17) .

Eclipsing the guys - this is not an unfamiliar sight at Pegasus - was Hannah Oldroyd (1st overall. 17:48). Hannah has run 36 times at Pegasus, so far, on 14 occasions she has not had anyone in front of her & on the other 22 occasions she has been the First Finishing Woman! Haven Drinnan (21:21) and Angela Doig (22:09) were the 2nd & 3rd women to finish.
We had 7 Unknown parkrunners on course today among our 104 - 60 males and 38 females also included 10 Juniors. Please don't forget your barcode! #DFYB

On a weekend when many Cantabs are away for the long weekend this is a great turnout - in fact 439 parkrunners were on course in Canterbury this morning.

Finally, a Huge, Huge thanks to our dedicated Volunteers for the day, without Volunteers getting all those non running things done - we wouldn’t be able to have parkrun, thanks you Superheroes: Chris NORMAN • Geoff MCMILLAN • Mark SISSONS • Jackie HANCOCK • Emma LYON • Trudy DIGGS • Vanessa NELMES • Chris VAN DER LEER • Paul BROUWERS • Leigh HAMILTON • Duncan LEES • Claire HANSEN.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers. Full instructions and guidance is always given, so please do approach Jackie, Trudy, Chris or the Run Director on the day for a chat. Or, send us an email at pegasus@parkrun.com.

Pegasus parkrun started on 18th June 2016. Since then 1,789 participants have completed 14,329 parkruns covering a total distance of 71,645 km, including 2,179 new Personal Bests. A total of 204 individuals have volunteered 2,027 times.
That's it for this week - see you next week at the usual time of 8am! #DFYB
