22 December Pegasus parkrun #222 run report December 22, 2020 By Pam Fraser Sport It seems like it was only yesterday when the festive season seem to be looming in the distance. Now we are less than a week away from Christmas day and the end of year holiday is almost upon us. Pegasus parkrun will be hosting parkruns at 8am on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day - it would be great to see you there. There is something special planned for the Xmas day event, where we will have a visitor stop in on his way home to the North Pole. His sleigh will arrive after 7:40am, so it would be a good idea to get kids to the start area early. Rudolph, Vixen, Dasher & Blitzen might be around, as well as a few elves... The skies were clear for the start of Pegasus parkrun #222, and 97 walkers, runners and joggers lined up in the start line to beat the 30-degree heat planned for later in the day. Today we had a few first timers at Pegasus – welcome to Gabrielle GRAY, Matthew CULLIMORE, Braden MCGIFFORD and Nathan WOODING. We had 2 visitors from Geraldine, and Libby HURLEY and Nicole BOND who did their very first parkrun. Hello to all of you! We also welcomed Shelley, a photojournalist who was doing a feature on Pegasus parkrun for the North Canterbury News. Look out for Shelley’s article on the 14-January edition. Hopefully, we will see you (and perhaps your partner and doggo) taking part in the future! Pole position today was taken by Alex WITT (18:33), followed by Joseph MATTHEWS (18:44) and Trevor JENKINSON (18:32). The first 3 females across the line were: Gabrielle GRAY (20:34), Haven DRINNAN (21:19) and Angela DOIG (21:27). The first 3 juniors to finish were Joseph MATTHEWS (JM15-17), Haven DRINNAN (JW15-17) and Alex BIDWELL (JW15-17). These folks obtained a new personal best today – well done to: Andrew COSTER, Toby BEHAN, Don YOUNG, Noah RODDIS, Becs LILLIEBRIDGE, Glen FOSTER, Nick WETHEY, Boyce ROB and Ann BOWER! 5 participants forgot their barcodes today (#DFYB) and representatives of 5 different clubs took part. Today we had 26 members of the parkrun 50 club, 20-members of the parkrun 100 club and 13 members of the volunteer 25 club. No milestones were achieved today, although a few folks are close to achieving next milestones. The team of volunteers today where: Lynley DEVON, Trudy DIGGS, Leigh HAMILTON, Jackie HANCOCK, Simon HANCOCK, Claire HANSEN, Anthea KANE, John KERRISON, Joanne LOW, Geoff MCMILLAN, Chris VAN DER LEER, Trev WHITE and Dean WILLS. Thank-you for volunteering your time! Thank-you to everyone who contributed to the Christchurch Kidney Society patient support group - we will be dropping off your donations next week. If you are travelling around New Zealand over the festive season, then you may still be able to partake in a parkrun. 22 out of 32 parkruns are planning events on either Xmas or New Year, or both.
