12 January Pegasus parkrun #227 run report January 12, 2021 By Pam Fraser Community, Sport This week’s run report is submitted by Tim Norman from Little River, Banks Peninsula, who under the guidance of Geoff Mack (parkrun Event Ambassador) is aiming to launch parkrun Little River in February 2021. This week saw 80 parkathletes who ran, jogged, and walked in what was a superb, still Canterbury morning. The only ripples on lake Pegasus were from the ducks and a lone kayaker, there was not a breath of wind! It was amazing to see the range of people taking part from young to older, individuals and families, doggy walkers, speedsters, and strollers! It is an inspiration to see everyone out there doing it! They were part of 32 parkruns throughout NZ, with just over 4000 individual parkrunners across the country! We had 5 new parkrunners today - but despite the holiday season no visiting parkrunners. Welcome to the following folks who started their parkrun journey: Dave Ermerins, Marc Ypelaar, Quentin Hutchison, myself and Faye Giddy (Along with Bonny the greyhound!). There were representatives from four running clubs and 10 individuals recorded personal bests! Brilliant! The 10 parkrunners who achieved PB’s at this parkrun – congratulations to Alex Witt, Amy Templer, Callum Simpson, Helen Thomas, Jaime Kirk, Libby Hurley, Marcus Daff, Matthew Brouwers, Robert Templer and William Power! The quickest 3 women this week were Hannah Oldroyd, Tina Cox and Angela Doig; the first 3 men across the line were Chris Norman, Alex Witt and John Marshall. Congratulations to Marylyn Trathen for completing her 222nd parkrun at Pegasus today! And completed on her birthday! Also congratulations to Paul Brouwers and Joseph Matthews for joining the parkrun 100 club, and to Jessica Brouwers who joined the Juniors club with 10 parkruns! This week’s volunteer efforts were kindly provided by Angela’s (RD) team of regulars and a newbie: Tim NORMAN, Angela LAMONT, Robert DOIG, Rosie WHITHAM, Trudy DIGGS, John KERRISON, Chris VAN DER LEER and Trev WHITE. It’s not a clique and anyone can join in. The volunteer 25 t-shirt is a quick milestone to collect and the t-shirt is a fetching shade of Aubergine. Please let us know if you are interested in helping by emailing us: pegasus@parkrun.com. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Pegasus next week!
