Pegasus parkrun #234 run report

Parkrunners are an amazing bunch of people, we are an incredibly diverse group - runners, walkers, buggy pushers and barkrunners - we welcome low & unsighted athletes, wheelchair athletes and athletes who live with the myriad other roadblocks that life sometimes throws at us. Being a parkrunner can mean so many things to so many people and all “sub-groups” in our parkrun communities deserve to be celebrated.

One of those “sub-groups” is being celebrated next parkrunday - it's Children’s Takeover next week, some of our regular Juniors will be taking on all the Volunteer roles, so let’s support them fully, maybe we could bring another child? maybe we could show our own inner child?
Let’s do it for the kids!

Over the 6 years of my personal parkrun history I’ve done a bit of Volunteering and I have to say that of the 15 different Volunteer roles that I’ve done, writing the Run Report is not my favourite activity and also the most difficult - what to say, how long to make it, does anyone actually read it? My answer to these questions is to write what I feel, as a parkrunner, is of interest - so let’s roll out another of my 150+ Run Reports.

Drizzle, a special Birthday (congrats Karen L-L), and some NI events kept a few of our regulars away today, nevertheless 87 people walked, ran, buggy pushed and barkran their way around our course today, 7 of whom were at Pegasus for the first time. (Welcome to Christian Ruegg, Amanda Robinson, Melinda Williams and Geraldine Piper) and 3 of that group were to complete their first ever parkrun - congratulations to Odie Ruegg, Dave Marsh and Vadim Rusu for taking that first step.
Welcome back to Ann and Jerry having now made the trip from Geraldine three times to parkrun with us.

The PB’s today numbered 5. Huge congratulations to Reuben Graham, Greg Bennett, Tim Heaver, Tony Culver and Ann Bower who all improved their times.
Almost standing on the virtual non-podium this week were Haven Drinnan, Daniel Wordsworth and Ben King for the Juniors. Nicola Whaley, Haven Drinnan and Natasha Mitchell for the Women. Reuben Graham, Alex Witt and John Marshall for the Men and Overall placings.

A huuuge thank you to the volunteers this week: Angela DOIG, Claire HANSEN, David WILMOTT, Dylan LAVALLEY, Geoff MCMILLAN, Jill MCARTHUR, Laurie MCARTHUR, Natasha MITCHELL, Robert DOIG and Trudy DIGGS.

parkrun is 100% powered by the volunteers - check out this page if you are considering giving us a hand: https://support.parkrun.com/hc/en-us/articles/200566523-What-do-the-volunteers-do-

I think I’d better sign off now, but before I go two quick messages from ........ me!
#DFYB please remember to bring your barcode and scan it each week
And for something completely different, let’s do it all again next week!
Geoff Mack!
