Pegasus parkrun run report #220

Before I begin this week’s run report, I would like to acknowledge Jackie Hancock for her hard work and diligence over the past year. The position of Event Director involves a considerable level of coordination, diligence, attention to detail, time, and effort. Jackie has bought all these together to create a safe environment for walkers, joggers, and runners to take part in a free, weekly event in the Waimakariri District.

Thank-you Jackie. As Event Directors, Trudy and I will continue to provide this opportunity to the community and we are committed to keeping thing easy, safe, and fun!

And now, on to the run report…
This week 84 people ran, jogged, and walked in the sun for Pegasus parkrun #220. Several our regulars were taking part in the Hanmer Alpine Marathon – I hope you all had a great run!

The big news this week is that we have a new age category record for the VM60-64 group! John GAMBLIN of Christchurch Avon completed Pegasus parkrun #220 in a blistering 18:35, passing Chris Keiths previous record of 19:19. Congratulations John!

Matthew BROUWERS joined the parkrun 10 club for juniors - well done Matt!

Saturday, 5-Dec was International Volunteer Day (5-Dec), a day promoted by the UN to promote and recognise efforts by volunteers around the World. At Pegasus parkrun we celebrated by wearing purple, and purple parkrun 25 Volunteer club T-shirts.

This week’s volunteer efforts were kindly provided by Geoff MCMILLAN, Jackie HANCOCK, Angela LAMONT, Trudy DIGGS, Vanessa NELMES, Kelly LAVALLEY, Chris VAN DER LEER, Dylan LAVALLEY, Tania BAILEY, Lynley DEVON and Claire HANSEN.

It is great that parkrun have a Volunteer club that rewards anyone who volunteers on 25 different occasions - those who reach this milestone can claim a free 25 volunteer purple t-shirt. Let us know if you are interested in helping by emailing us at pegasus@parkrun.com.

Nathan JONES (17:29), Chris NORMAN (18:27) and John GAMBLIN (18:35) were the first 3 men to cross the finish line. Hannah OLDROYD (17:38), Natasha MITCHELL (24:12) and Jo TILLEY (26:50) were the 3 top females this week.

Representatives from 9 different running clubs were present and 6 individuals recorded personal bests – well done to John GAMBLIN, Rhys COBDEN-COX, Marcus DAFF, Toby BEHAN, Franklin BAIN and Jenny COBDEN-COX.

A warm Pegasus welcome to Joshua SMITH and Steven OLSEN who ran this parkrun for the very first time – we hope to see you visiting again soon.
This week we had 3 members of the parkrun juniors club, 18 members of the parkrun 50 club, 14 members of the 100 club, one member of the 250 club and 14 members of the volunteer’s club running around the lake.

This week we only had one person forgetting their barcode #DFYB

We did lose a token this week. If you were in position 62 please check your pockets for our token. We literally cannot do the event without these and we need for them to be returned immediately after your result has been scanned.

In other news, Christchurch runner Oska Baynes set a new parkrun record at Hagley this weekend with a run time of 14:29. Wow! Perhaps we will see Oska showing us how it is done at Pegasus some day!

Thank-you everybody for joining us or helping out this week. See you next Saturday!
