2 April Polo success April 2, 2021 By Pam Fraser Sport The Rangiora High School polo team have been competing in the South Island Interschools Polo tournaments, culminating in the last tournament of the season over the weekend. They were competing in the D grade alongside Rangi Ruru B, St Margarets College and Christs College C. The team of Rebecca Barnett, Ella O’Conner, Maggie McDermott, and Jessica Orr won the D grade, and Rebecca Barnett was named grade MVP. A great finish to the school polo season. A solid North Canterbury team took part with a number of athletes hitting the ground running and finding early season success. The 11 ... Combined event success Canterbury Athletics held a combined Children’s and Senior event over the weekend. This meant some athletes were competing in dual agegroups or mixed events, pushing them a little harder than usual events. Farai Musesengwa 9boys, was second in the 9-10 boys 60m and 100m. North Canterbury Athletics coach Jo Ramsay, won the 40–44 year women’s 3000m. Xanthe Jane ran in the mixed 1500m steeplechase, finishing 5th, and she was the first female across the line. ...
