Protective Equipment now available in North Canterbury

Frontline first responders and healthcare workers in North Canterbury now have a local option to source their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

3D Labs in Kaiapoi – as part of the Techmedics Group – has proactively pursued its place within the global community 3D printing initiative to help stop the transmission of COVID-19.

It is printing the head bands for the Personal Protection Shields they have sourced. They are currently supplying them to the public for what they cost to make at $12 each, and re-investing the money into making more.

3D Labs’ owner Aaron Lovelace, said they are also producing bands for face masks, which takes the pressure off behind the ears, and makes wearing them for long periods much easier.

“There is currently a massive shortage of all the PPE, and we just wanted to help,” Aaron said.

“Our goal is to give the shields away, but at this stage we are asking for just the cost per shield so we can re-invest in more materials to make more.

“If anyone would like to help out with a donation for the purchase of raw materials, that would be fantastic.”
