The final Pool C round of matches in the Canterbury Country rugby competition were played over the weekend. Saracens dropped their first points of the season finishing with a 24-24 draw with an improving Oxford side. Kaiapoi produced a 33-10 win over Hurunui, to join Saracens at the top of the table. Glenmark Cheviot cemented their third place on the ladder with a solid 57-17 defeat of Woodend. Ashley got up over Ohoka 25-20. Final Pool C points: Saracens 29, Kaiapoi 29, Glenmark Cheviot 23, Oxford 16, Ohoka 15, Ashley 13, Hurunui 10, Woodend 4. Next week sees Saracens and Kaiapoi through to the Cup quarter finals, where they will play Prebbleton and Springston respectively. Glenmark Cheviot and Oxford to into the trophy section, and will play West Melton and Waihora. In the plate semifinals for 13th-16th place Ohoka play Hampstead and Ashley play Lincoln. And Hurunui will play Rolleston, and Woodend will play Rakaia in the plaque group. The Kaiapoi women’s team had another tough day on the paddock with a 0-61 loss to Linwood. The Rangiora High School 1st XV picked up their first win in the Miles Toyota Championship, with a 21-10 win over Roncalli-Aoraki combined.
