The last of the semifinalists for the Canterbury Country T20 competition have been found, and three North Canterbury teams will compete for places in the final. Cheviot had already made it into the top two in Pool One, and will face Ohoka, who defeated Weedons in the weekend. Weedons, batting first, reached 118/9 off their 20 overs. Devon Nightingale was the top scorer with 38, and Kyle Brown was the best of the Ohoka bowlers with 3/13. In reply Ohoka made it through to 119 only three wickets down. Daniel Lyons 56 not out off 51, along with 43 runs from 39 balls from Harry Fitzpatrick, were the best of the Ohoka batsman. Despite losing to Darfield in the weekend, Sefton scraped into second place in Pool Two by virtue of a better net run rate. Sefton batted first and put on 129/7. Lance Taylor was the top scorer with 29 not out. David Beatty was the best of the Darfield bowlers with 3/32. In reply, Darfield took it to the wire reaching 130/8 in the 20th over. Jesse Frew was their top scorer with 27. Nigel Granger was the best of the Sefton bowlers taking 3 for 16. Sefton will face Leeston Southbridge, and Cheviot play Ohoka next Sunday morning, in the semifinals, with the final played that same afternoon.
