The Waimak CCL men’s team have kept the ball rolling on their early season form with 3 wins from 3 outings. This weekend they defeated Mid Canterbury who had made the trip north to Kendall Park. The home side had a different look with a number of players away over the Easter weekend, and a few injuries. This gave young Zac Winter an opportunity for his first senior start, having debuted last season off the bench. He had an outstanding game in the midfield, showing maturity beyond his age. Waimak looked dominant early on, but were unable to find openings in the Mid Canterbury defence early on. Eventually they found a way through Mid Canterbury and a ball played back to Kane Fraser was smashed in. Mid Canterbury tried to push forward and get back into the game, but Brad Stewart filling in at centre back snuffed out any opportunity. The North Canterbury side finished off the job with a hattrick to Kamil El Mohib, and a 4-0 win. Points: Waimak 9, Western 9, Parklands 9, Burwood 3, Universities 3, FCTwenty 3, Mid Canterbury 0, St Albans 0.
